About Me

Hi, I'm Egehan, a student at Naile Mehmet Ali Uyanık High School in Türkiye. Besides what I learn at school, I am interested in gaining new experiences, learning new skills, and improving myself in different areas.

I believe it is impossible to imagine the future without technology, and everyone needs to learn about and adapt to new technologies, especially artificial intelligence. Like many people, I used to be afraid of what AI could do because of dystopian movies where artificial intelligence takes over the world. I worried that AI could become dangerous or be used for harmful purposes. However, I decided to face this fear instead of avoiding it. I want to understand how AI works, explore what it is capable of, and become someone who can help develop and manage this technology responsibly. If AI creates serious risks for humanity in the future, I would like to be among the people working to understand and control those risks. For these reasons, I am interested in studying software engineering and artificial intelligence at university.

My interest in technology has also led me to develop my own projects. My biggest project so far is a learning program for students preparing for Türkiye's TYT and AYT exams. It uses the Feynman technique to help students understand and remember what they learn. The program has two AI roles: a teacher that explains a selected topic and a student that asks challenging questions to test the user's understanding. When students struggle with a topic, the system marks the areas they need to improve and prepares suitable practice questions for them. I am still developing this project, and I hope to share it with around 30 friends, collect their feedback, and improve it based on their experiences.

I have also worked on smaller projects, including Denizli Guide, which introduces my city to tourists, and a calorie tracker. I have developed these projects from scratch, and the process has not always been easy. Sometimes I struggled to come up with ideas, and sometimes I lacked the technical knowledge needed to solve a problem. While developing my main project, I had to start again from scratch three times because of mistakes and problems with the system. These experiences taught me the importance of planning changes carefully, saving my progress, researching problems, and learning from my mistakes. I am still learning, but I want to keep improving my skills and creating useful projects.

Besides technology, I enjoy different activities, especially scuba diving, adventure sports, and music. I have been interested in several sports throughout my life, and bodybuilding has also become an important part of my daily routine. I am fascinated by the underwater world and enjoy learning about marine life. Music is another important part of my life. I play several instruments at different levels, and I currently perform as a drummer in bands and at concerts. Performing on stage has helped me become more confident, and I enjoy improving my skills through practice and live performances.

I created APEX CURRENT to document my personal development, keep my experiences and memories, and look back at how I have changed over time. I also have a dream of studying at a university in the United States. I want this blog to serve as a portfolio where I can share my projects, interests, and experiences with the universities I apply to. More importantly, I hope it will help readers understand who I am beyond my grades and academic achievements.

From Keys to Sticks: Part II — Strumming the Wrong Chord: The Search for My True Beat

 Not every melody can be played on every instrument, just as not every instrument fits every musician. Looking back at my three to four years of piano lessons and recitals, I realized that while the piano built my core foundation, it wasn't my true destination. I needed an instrument that matched my energy. My next detour was the guitar. As a child, I was deeply drawn to music because I loved the visual storytelling in music videos. One day, I saw my uncle listening to the band Gorillaz. The animated music videos for Clint Eastwood and Feel Good Inc. instantly captured my imagination. Depth Zero: The Aquarium Dive That Changed My Perspective

  When you ask a kid about their favorite animal, you’ll usually hear dogs, cats, or horses. But for as long as I can remember, I wasn't like most kids. While my classmates were reading comic books or fairy tales, I was completely absorbed in shark encyclopedias and illustrated marine books. Finding peers who shared this niche obsession was nearly impossible, but I couldn't help it.
